Children's Book Series

I had a huge fondness for anything by Judy Blume and Beverly Cleary growing up and even still today but as far as other book series go, I would have to say I enjoyed a ton of the Babysitter's Club, Sweet Valley High Twins, Christopher Pike's, and R.L Stine's various book series.

I always loved series because I really enjoyed getting to know the characters well and liked having more time to spend with them.  Whenever I read a stand alone book that I really fall in love with...there is always a sense of sadness that it ended too soon even if it had the most perfect of endings.

What are some of your favorite children's book series growing up?  Do you have a preference for series vs stand alone's?

  1. I like series books also. It makes me feel like I'm spending time with old friends as I read through them. I don't remember too many from when I was a kid. Currently, I love Harry Potter, Twilight series, the couple of Al Capone books. I also read Hunger Games and need to read the 2nd installment. Oh and I just finished Shiver and anxiously await Linger. :) I do love stand alone books too. I just LOVE books!

  2. I didn't read any series books, but my oldest loved the Nancy Drew series. My second loves the Alex Rider series. And one of my boys loves the Vampirates series. So, I think they would agree that getting to know the characters through many books is definitely a good thing. :)
